Here’s what the future looks like in the Kris Longknife Universe. It’s a draft, but I’m betting it’s solid gold.
Kris Longknife: Furious (10)- October 2012
First Casualty reissue – March 2013
The Price of Peace reissue – June 2013
They Also Serve reissue – September 2013
Kris Longknife Defender (11) – October/November 2013
Hounds of War – January 2014
Vicky Peterwald: Target – June 2014
Kris Longknife – Tenacious (12) (ex-Courageous, ex-Conqueror, ex-Relentless, ex-Valiant) – October/November 2014. I swear, no more name changes for this one.
Vicky Peterwald – Survivor (2) – June 2015 (deliver Jan 14)
Kris Longknife Relentless (13) – October/November 2015
Vicky Peterwald – Rebel (3) – June 2016 (deliver Jan 15)
[Kris Longknife Ambassador (14) - October/November 2016]
The two Kris books in [ ] are part of the next contract, so their names are draft. Hopefully not as draft as poor book 12.
Enjoy the fun reads!
Wow! Job security for you and lots to look forward to for us!
I’m beginning to see the story arc…. I can’t wait!
Whoa! that’s a lot of books.
Almost enough to satisfy my Kris sweet tooth.
Tim
Oo, good. Christmas/birhday/unbirthday for the next while all sorted then!
Is there an overall planned story arc? Jim Butcher has stated that his Dresdan serries is planed out as a 20 book serries with a trilogy conclusion? Have you done something simular with Kris? I suppose I ask because its always a huge disapointment when an author I love reading really hits their stride, then pulls a Robert Jordan.
I notice the first Vicky P. book coming way off in June of next year, yet your clean draft has per your blog been done for some time. Publisher delays? Surely the delay is not on your account?
Hi, Jesse, I hate to tell you this, but there is no planned grand arc here. Kris’s life tends to unfold like mine has. Every morning is a surprise. No doubt, she’s better organized than my life it. After all, she’s fiction and has to make sense. Right now, I’m able to see five books ahead. That’s the farthest I’ve ever seen.
Oh, and I will do my best not to pull a Jordon on you. Really.
Peter, you’re right, there’s a significant delay for Vicky. New York publishing needs that much time to find a slot in their production processes. I rushed Vicky’s delivery to start the process, but it’s still a long process. Oh, and 2014 is two years from now. Not next year. Possible if Furious does make the NYT bestseller list things may open up. There are always chances that someone will fail to deliver a book. This is a tentative list, not carved in stone.
I look forward to seeing the Ray Longknife books back in print. The first book of yours I found was “They Also Serve,” and I enjoyed it and started looking for more. Found the daughter’s adventures, wished I could find the rest of the father’s.
I’ll admit that matching cover styles (to replace the worn and dog-eared copies I currently have) would be nice on the shelf next to the newer series, but I’d definitely buy if there was added content (I’m a sucker for that – I own several David Weber books two or three times over). I don’t suppose that there is any chance that Ace will reconsider a *minor* re-edit? Or at least let you slip it into the e-book?
Blackmane, I very much wanted to do some revisions to the three books, but Ace was very much against it, so whatever additions I do will be on my blog rather than in the books. Sorry about that.
Fair enough. To be honest, I’m simply happy to see the older series revived, as I always wanted to see more of Ray’s exploits, as well as Kris’. Well, keep us posted, and I’ll look forward to their release (Especially Hounds).
Glad to see a re-issue of the older series. I really enjoyed those in the past, will they be matching covers with the Kris series? I do hope your time travel series will see a re-issue, more people should be allowed to enjoy those. I certainly did.
Looking forward to read all these books.
