You can read the opening chapters of this year’s Kris stories now at my website. Welcome Home/Go Away is up for sale now as an e-special. You can also download it to your computer and read it there.
The opening Chapters of Kris Longknife – Furious are also up. It goes on sale October 30.
I’m trying to hit 20 or higher this year on the New York Times bestseller’s list, so buying it early (and often) would help me, thank you.
Umm…. where are the early chapters? I can’t find them on the main site. Unless you ment there’s an early chapter of Furious in welcome home/ go away. If thats the case then I’ve already read that….and eagerly awaiting more.
It’s here:

Be prepared to suffer for the next few weeks if you read it. It cuts off at a really evil point
Well, Steve, what did you expect. I’m the writer. And Jesse, they’re on the first page of the site. Look under the pictures where it says Read a Sample Chapter in blue.
I’m with Jesse – home page I see (www.mikeshepherd.org) only has 1 photo, and I don’t see the link to sample chapters… using chrome if it makes any difference.
In all fairness I am half blind so sometimes I just miss things…. although its usually anything on the right side, so I guess I can’t use that as an excuse this time.
Despite my disability I’ve now read and enjoyed them, and am counting the days until Furious hits the shelves.
When you say buy often. Does that include digital copies? Because I typically purchase one paperback and one kobo digital edition. Does that count/help?
Hi, Josh, yes, that is most definitely what I’m praying for when I say buy often. When you buy the paperback book, it counts towards me achieving my dream of being a New York Times Bestselling author. I never had that dream until the last two books hit the extended list and it started being a possibility. Now it’s bit me bad. Of course, the digital books make me double what the paperback books do. It’s a shame that my ego wants one thing and my wallet likes the other. I think Kris would find it hilarious that her writer is in one of the messes he puts her in so much. Huh?

Do overseas sales help with your NYT dreams? I would guess possibly not. What about audio?
Exactly who the NYT goes to to decide what sales happen is a closely guarded secret. I don’t even have a guess. So, who knows?
